The Role of Religious Doubt

March 18, 2011

Jason Boyett posts some excerpts from Jon M. Sweeney’s essay at The Huffington Post on the role of religious doubt.  Sweeney is the author of Verily, Verily: The KJV–400 Years of Influence and Beauty.  In the essay, Sweeney references Monsignor Quixote and the role that doubt plays in the book:

“It’s odd … how sharing a sense of doubt can bring men together perhaps even more than sharing a faith. The believer will fight another believer over a shade of difference: the doubter fights only with himself.”
