Jesus and the Eyewitnesses

February 16, 2011

Richard Baukham is giving a series of lectures this week at my seminary mothership, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.  Baukham was a mentor to one of my favorite New Testament professors.  Justin Taylor quotes Tim Keller, who says this about Baukham’s Jesus and the Eyewitnesses: The Gospels as Eyewitness Testimony:

[The book is] the most conclusive argument that the Gospels are not long-evolving oral traditions but rather oral histories, written down from the accounts of the eyewitnesses themselves who were still alive and active in their communities.
